Utley to Silsden - along the river and in the fields on the northern bank
There are two active Sand Martin colonies, one of 20+ birds and the other of eight. At another part of the river, with a lot of Sand Martin action, there was no sign of a colony. 35 Sand Martins in total and 44 different species birds along the stretch, these included a Common Sandpiper, six Curlew, three Oystercatchers, three Lapwings, four Lesser Redpoll, five Reed Buntings, four Grey Wagtails, 14 Swallows and a pair of Kingfishers. The warblers included nine Blackcaps and a Garden Warbler. The canal at Low Wood was swarming with tadpoles and a Roe Deer was running along the Golf Course road.

Shipley Glen
Two pairs of Great Spotted Woodpeckers are continuing to feed at their nest holes. A Green Woodpecker flew over the Glen and a pair of adult Nuthatch were feeding their fledged young in the oak trees. Earlier in the day a juvenile Oystercatcher flew over Brackenhall.
