Stockbridge reserve - After seeing this bird a few times down on the Reserve, Mark has managed to catch an image of it below. I think Water Rail is a suitable local species for 2022 to go out with.

R Aire walk from Bingley to Hirst Wood  - (the cold snap attracted birds to the river as still waters are frozen up), Birds recorded - 5 Teal, 3 Dipper, 3 Little Grebe, 10 Goosander, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail plus 3 Grey Heron, 4 Moorhen & plenty of Mallard.

Stockbridge Reserve -

An evening ringing produced another female Cettis Warbler ie a different bird than previous so that is three different females in as many years. Also 12 Siskin ringed.

Water Rail feeding in the open under the feeder. 3 Siskin attracted to ice free area amongst the willows, Snipe flew on to island before flying off east. Buzzard perched at top of conifer tree. Two Sparrowhawks interacting above the school fields. Reed Buntings at the feeders.

Bingley centre yesterday afternoon, watching the Xmas light being turned on when a Sparrowhawk took one of the feral pigeons perched on the old library roof. Very festive!!

The female Snow Bunting, first reported on Friday, remains in the vicinity of the car park on Hawksworth Road, Baildon.  The bird is often seen feeding on a path behind the bins at the far end of the car park.

Stockbridge Reserve (members only) -  Kingfisher visited the site twice, at least 4 Blackcap, one singing from the riverbank, another male with two different Browncaps feeding in the rasps patch, Reed Warbler, female Goosander  on the lake, juvenile Chiff-Chaff.

Bolton Abbey to Aquaduct & back - On a cool & blustery day, birds difficult to see. Heard 3 Pied Fly (seeing just one), Redstart, 3 Common Sandpiper, Kingfisher, 3 male Mandarin plus a female with 4 ducklings. Plenty of Grey Wagtails but no Dipper recorded.
