A male Cuckoo was calling from a tree alongside the cabins near Pennythorn Plantation where it has be present for the past ten days. Bird also heard by Peter Hughes the day before.

Roger Nelson wrote to say that he had two Yellow Wagtails on his garden wall, and then they were feeding in a neighbouring field.  He last saw Yellow Wagtail on his home patch on 12th May 1989.  In records which go back to 1971, he has never seen one before 22nd April, until today.

Cuckoo watched as it called from a tree by the cabins at Pennythorn, said to be have been in the area since 12th.  Up to 20 Willow Warblers singing in the area. Pair of Mistle Thrush with food at Birch Close.  Swallows at Faweather and Golcar Farms and five Wheatears dispersed across the area.

A clear bright morning and the birds were taking advantage.  At Golcar Fields, about 25 pairs of Lapwings are established, up to a dozen Snipe were very active, chasing, displaying and calling.  A Redshank dropped in and up to eight Curlews were feeding across the fields.  Two Wheatears were on the Golf Course and other birds included Stock Dove, Skylark, Meadow Pipit and Reed Bunting.
