Driving over from Dick  Hudsons to Menston this afternoon, 4 Red  Kites, one by Weecher  Res, a party of 3  over Reva  Hill.  The latter were still there on the way back an hour later.

Bingley to Hirst Wood along River Aire - 3 Dipper, 3 Grey Wagtail, 3 Kingfishers, 2 House Martin.

Recently reported - On 19th Hawfinch heard around Coppice Pond area, St Ives, Bingley.

Once more there were lots of Meadow Pipits on the bracken and walls and at least a dozen Skylarks on various parts of the Golf Course.  Two families of Reed Buntings were noted and two Wheatears were feeding on the 11th fairway.

Delayed start so little vis-mig watching done. Meadow Pipits & Swallows trickling through.
Jays moving south, 11 Siskin, 15 Goldfinch, Pied Wagtail, Chaffinch,
In the Clough; Spotted Flycatcher, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Green Woodpkr, Kestrel, Song Thrush,
Long-tailed Tits, Robins. Goosander leaving roost. Sparrowhawk.

Lots of activity from Meadow Pipits which seemed to be everywhere, on walls and bracken, interspersed with Reed Buntings and a few Skylarks.  There were also four Wheatears on the Golf Course.

A male Green Woodpecker an uncommon visitor here in Low Moor flew south this morning over Caldene Fields.

Empty skies for an hour. Just 11 Meadow Pipits & 5 Mistle Thrushes.
In the Clough were 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 5 Bullfinch, Sparrowhawk.
Both GSW & Green were heard. The dozen or so Swallows amounted to 8 youngsters with 4 adults bringing them food to the wires.

Overcast, southerly wind, occasional drizzle, rain from 9.40am
A good two hours vis-mig was steady until the rain.
Meadow Pipit 772, Swallow 118, and low numbers of House Martin, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Mistle Thrush, Starling.
In the bushes were 6+Chiffchaff, male Blackcap with the tit-flocks.
Other birds; Common Buzzard, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Jay

A quiet morning after two days of rain was enlivened by a Sparrowhawk which leapt from a fence-post and flew about three feet above the ground.  The bird plucked a Meadow Pipit from amongst a small feeding flock and it was immediately harassed by a Kestrel, which chased the predator to a tree by Golcar Farm.
Later at 10.25am - A flock of 30 Pink-footed Geese headed north west.

Vis-mig not very good with few Meadow Pipits, Swallows, House Martins, Pied Wagtails, Chaffinches and Grey Wagtails. A single Golden Plover the highlight.
In the bushes was a different story;
Tree Pipit flushed from Blackthorn bush north of railway bridge. Sedge Warbler in boggy grass area mid-clough. At least a dozen Chiffchaff were in a mixed flock with 20+Long-tailed Tit. Blackcap was heard at the south end. Swallows also still present.
Also present;
Common Buzzard, 2+Kestrel, Sparrowhawk.

There was a Turnstone and a Common Sandpiper this evening at this location.

This morning there was a glut of Wheatears with seven counted, five on the fairways, one at Golcar and another on the Glen Road.

A walk up Ponden Kirk and beyond today showed up three Ravens, c50 Meadow Pipits, a solitary Wheatear and a Kestrel.  High up several raptors were circling, one heavier bird sped off west looked to be a Peregrine. Couldn't confirm but the sight certainly lifted my spirits.

Wheatears have continued to pass over Baildon Moor.  Today there were three birds by the 11th fairway and in this area an impressive flock of over 60 Meadow Pipits swirled around the bracken, and about half a dozen Skylarks were feeding on the shorter grasses.

Three Wheatears were seen on the 11th fairway and a big flock of dozen or so Grey Partridge shot from the field by Golcar Farm where a Spotted Flycatcher was still present.

An excellent day for Wheatears with seven birds seen, two on the 11th fairway of the Golf Course and another five in the fields by Golcar Farm.  The birds were inevitably accompanied by two Whinchats and over at the farm, Spotted Flycatcher could still be seen.

2male 1 female/Imm Redstart, 1 Spotted Flycatcher,
4 Willow Warbler (no Chiffchaff or Blackcap seen or heard),
Bullfinch, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Kestrel,
2 Pheasant, 75+Lapwing in ploughed fields, Curlew,
Jay, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, lots of Robins.
Vis-mig was just a trickle of Meadow Pipits & Swallows.

Whetstone Gate, a party of 4 Raven were noticeable by there raucous calling flying in wide circles for 30 minutes or so. Sparrow Hawk and Kestrel.

A party of 3 low flying Yellow Wagtails flew south over Caldene Fields watchpoint, South Bradford.

There were six Wheatears around the 11th fairway of Baildon Golf Course and a Stonechat was feeding by the tee.  A flock of seven Red Grouse flew from the heather and by the 'gallops' a couple of adult Grey Partridge shepherded their seven juveniles.  At least three Spotted Flycatchers were still active at Golcar Farm and a flock of up to a 100 Meadow Pipits were swirling around the cattle in the adjacent fields.

Common Buzzard, 4+Spotted Flycatcher, numerous contact calls from Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff with the latter two species singing. Two groups of Swallows either end of the Clough and a party of House Martins passed over. Also present; Bullfinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, tit flocks, few Meadow Pipits, Grey Wagtail, 8+Magpie, Jay

Knotford Nook -first visit this year, what a change from its heyday in the late 80's - has declined even from last year with the new fences around both pools limiting viewing even more - if not for the dragonflies would probably give this place a miss totally now. 
Willow Warbler - a few juveniles, Swallow 30+, Coot 20, Great Crested Grebe 2 adults and 2 juveniles
Mute Swan 12 (included a family party of 2 adults with six well-grown young)
Kingfisher 2, Buzzard 1 - low over the river-line being hounded by crows, Mallard - most ( a party of 14) on the river, Dipper 2, Tufted Duck 1 male 2 female.
An excellent visit with over 50 large dragonflies seen, included Brown Hawker, Migrant Hawker, Southern Hawker, Common Darter, Ruddy Darter and Common Blue Damselfly

There were two Wheatears on the 11th fairway of Baildon Golf Course and there were groups of very active Meadow Pipits on the bracken and amongst the heather.  A Spotted Flycatcher was feeding in the hedgerow behind Glovershaw Farm and at least 20 Swallows swept along the Glen Road.
