Stockbridge Reserve (members only) - some Swift families are out with 22 birds hawking over the reserve.
4 adult Canadas escorted their 24 young to the river in the farmer's field. Reed Warbler, Whitethroat & Blackcap singing. Juvs seen - Reed Bunting, Greenfinch, Dunnock.

Sconce Lane area - a walk with Friends of Baildon Moor produced 32 species including about 6 singing Reed Bunting, at least two Whitethroat, Willow Warblers, Linnet, Oystercatcher, family of Curlew.

Stockbridge Reserve (members only) - Reed Warbler still singing, Reed Buntings are breeding well with many young now out and being fed by adults, Blackcap singing, at least two Whitethroat territories. Tufted Duck pair have gone but mink seen recently. Two male adult Bullfinch at feeders.

Whetstone Gate - pair of Stonechat plus juv male, also Kestrel.

An evening at Heather Park, St Ives, Bingley produced 19 flypasts in just over an hour. Plenty of Tawnys calling and midges biting us.

Walk between Bingley & Saltaire - 2 singing Whitethroat. The first at the side of rugby pitch near to new road bridge near Wagon Lane. Second at Hirst Wood Locks near to bakery. Also Nuthatch with 3 young in Hirst Woods.

Stockbridge Reserve (members only) - 32 species recorded this morning including the following - Reed Warbler heard, after quite a few weeks absence, Reed Bunting (at least 4 males chasing each other ), Willow Warbler, pair of Tufted landed. For once, the Coots (now with 1chick) have not bullied the Tufteds away. Swift, Sand & House Martin, Swallow all recorded in small numbers. Very few young birds seen. Just 1 young Blue Tit with adult. A Whitethroat was seen searching for food but overall we are seeing the affects of last year's disastrous summer and the cold spring this year.

Seven species of warbler recorded so far this year and all present today;
Grasshopper Warbler, Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Blackcap, Wood Warbler, Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff all heard singing. Other species include the continued presence of Redpoll and Siskin, Spotted Flycatcher (1 pair in Raceourse Pltn), Swift, Swallow, Meadow Pipit,  GSWdpkr, Jay, Nuthatch, etc

Two-part song of Wood Warbler heard clearly today in usual woodland at St Ives, Bingley

Heard and then saw 2 Cuckoos flying low over woodland garden at East Morton around 1pm today. Possible pair but not clear sighting due to sun.

BOG walk from Stainburn Forest car park to Swinsty. Some of the birds seen were as follows;
Scargill Pasture - plenty of Curlew plus a chick seen, Snipe displaying and later seen perched, Kestrel, good views of Green Woodpecker.
Scargill Reservoir - Tufted Duck, both Canada & Greylag goslings with waders, Common Sandpiper, Oystercatcher, Redshank (heard) and Lapwing chicks. Also Pied & Grey Wagtail.
Wood below Scargill Res. - pair of Pied Flycatchers feeding young in natural hole.
Beaverdyke Res area - Tree Sparrows
John O'Gaunt Res. area - up to 5 male Redstarts, some seen in pairs at breeding sites, Reed Bunting.
Swinsty Wood - singing Chiff-Chaff & Blackcap plus singing Garden Warbler seen in car park. Other raptors seen during the walk.

Low Wood, Keighley - singing Garden Warbler by canal along with a couple of Blackcaps. Some improvement with a couple of nest boxes now taken by Blue & Great Tits. Also singing Chiff-Chaff & GSW drumming.

A three-hour walk early on Tuesday morning at Strid (Barden back to Cavendish via woods) produced a  count of 36 species, best of which were pied fly, spotted fly, pr common sand, pr G/S woodpecker, grey wagtail, garden warbler, nuthatch.
