Common Scoters

A couple of things from yesterday most amazingly between 10 and 10:30pm there were at least 3 flocks of common scoter flew E over our place in Hawksworth calling.  According to people on twitter they were also heard all the way across from west coast to E coast.  Presumably some of the 50,000 wintering birds from Liverpool bay:

In 2011 a flock of 26 males and one female landed on Thornton Moor Reservoir and were seen and photographed by Brian Vickers.


Shipley Glen
A mixed flock of about 150 Thrushes.  Estimated to be 75% Redwing and 25% Fieldfare in the fields/trees behind Brackenhall Farm.
